Carrying for a dog is not just a device for transporting an animal from one point to another. This is literally a mobile home. Therefore, I personally believe that there can be no one carrying a dog. For each specific case, you need your own and suitable: whether it's a trip to the veterinarian, a bed in a hotel, or just a dog's rest after a walk. Many public places are allowed to visit with four-legged, subject to the presence of a carrying bag for dogs. Even some museums are allowed with a dog if it is being carried. But not in any!
The size and type of carrying for dogs depends on the breed of the animal and the type of activity or travel. And in our particular case, also from the requirements of airlines. If you look closely at the list of airlines that I have compiled, you will see that many carriers require that the carrying height be no more than 20 cm, and also that the dog is standing there! Hence, the question arises for many: “For what breeds have they established such rules?” And no one will give the right answer. In the call center you will be threatened that if the dog does not stand in such a carry, you will not be put on the plane. And they are not aware that neither a dachshund nor a puppy can actually stand in such a carry. So really, for whom is she? The question is rhetorical.
And I, unfortunately, describing my experience of traveling with a dog, I can not give everyone who asks for a guarantee that if they let us in, then everything will go smoothly with them. Each time I repeat that it all depends on the country where you fly, and simply corny on how hard the employee of the airport and airline performs its work.
For example, we have a carrier 20 cm high and we really fly with it. But the dog does not stand in it, but lies, although it can turn around. But if I flew with the dog to America or decided to take the dog to Thailand, that is, she would have to spend more than 10 hours in such a carrying position when lying, then I would definitely refuse it. Yes, I simply wouldn’t fly with such an airline and choose the one where the height is not important, but the allowable weight of the animal with carrying is important.
